PARIS — March 27, 2012 — Thomson Broadcast has hosted a successful test of the DVB-T2 Lite standard during the Plug Fest event at the company’s Conflans-Sainte-Honorine site. The event marks a significant stage in the validation of DVB-T2 Lite, which extends and improves the DVB-T2 standard’s performance for mobile reception.

PARIS — Oct. 2, 2011 — Thomson Broadcast’s new high-efficiency Futhura Plus television transmitter added to its award-winning debut at IBC2011 by picking up a STAR award from the editorial staff of TV Technology Europe magazine.

The Superior Technology Award Recipient (STAR) award is designed to celebrate and showcase the preeminent technological innovations available to the broadcast industry. Twenty-five STAR awards are given each year to new products that help users save money or accomplish a task more easily.

 

 PARIS — Sept. 26, 2011 — Thomson Broadcast’s new high-efficiency Futhura Plus television transmitter capped a successful IBC2011 debut by winning Broadcast Engineering’s coveted Pick Hit Award.

PARIS — Sept. 7, 2011 — Thomson Broadcast today announced the Futhura Plus ultra-efficient high power television transmitter. The Futhura Plus offers broadcasters substantial energy savings, with a 50-percent improvement in efficiency over current standard transmitters on the market.

PARIS — June 14, 2011 — Thomson Broadcast today announced that Indosiar, one of Indonesia’s top three broadcasters, has ordered six new Thomson Inductive Output Tube (IOT) high-power transmission systems for its national television network.

PARIS — April 10, 2011 — Thomson Broadcast today announced the new Elite 100 GreenPower digital television transmitter — an energy-efficient, medium-power-range offering within the company’s Elite GreenPower product family.

PARIS — April 8, 2011 — Thomson Broadcast today announced that Venevisión, one of Venezuela’s largest television networks, has ordered five new Thomson Optimum transmission systems for its national television network. Scheduled for installation by Q3 2011, the new systems will replace part of Venevisión’s existing Thomson transmitters after more than 15 years of continuous service.

Venevisión specified three 2-kW transmitters in band 1 and band 3 with simple exciters, and two 10-kW band 3 systems fitted with double exciters.

PARIS — March 31, 2011 — Thomson Broadcast today announced that Bangladesh Betar, the Bangladeshi national radio network, is to install a new shortwave transmitter and rotatable antenna from Thomson Broadcast, to extend the reach of its service to the Middle East, Central Asia, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Indian subcontinent.

PARIS — March 29, 2011 — Thomson Broadcast announced today that New Jersey-based broadcaster WMBC-TV has successfully deployed an ATSC single-frequency network (SFN) to improve its coverage in New Jersey and New York City. The installation ― Thomson Broadcast’s first implementation of an ATSC SFN solution — allows WMBC-TV to reach target viewing areas in New York that were not adequately served from the broadcaster’s New Jersey transmitter due to interference from terrain and building profiles.
