Thomson Broadcast Delivers Benchmark Efficiency With Elite 100 GreenPower
PARIS — April 10, 2011 — Thomson Broadcast today announced the new Elite 100 GreenPower digital television transmitter — an energy-efficient, medium-power-range offering within the company’s Elite GreenPower product family. The Elite 100 GreenPower joins Thomson Broadcast’s line of environmentally friendly transmission products which includes the high-power Elite 1000 GreenPower and the Elite 10 GreenPower for low-power applications.
Offering market-leading efficiency in a true plug-and-play system, the Elite 100 GreenPower is aimed at broadcasters rolling out an initial digital deployment, or extending coverage in combination with high-power Elite transmitters.
Key to the Elite 100 GreenPower’s efficiency is its use of the latest 50-V LDMOS transistor technology, which allows the transmitter to deliver all of the proven benefits of the Elite range together with outstanding power density and sharply reduced operational costs.
The Elite 100 GreenPower series is available from 350 W to 2000 W, and supports all digital standards including DVB-T/H, DVB-T2, ISDB-Tb, ATSC, ATSC-M/H, and FLO in the UHF frequency band. The transmitter can be delivered in a compact 19-inch standard cabinet or as a standalone chassis. Similar to other members of the Elite GreenPower range, the Elite 100 GreenPower is highly modular in design and can be easily upgraded to meet increased power requirements. The modular architecture is also optimized for quick and easy maintenance, further lowering ownership costs, and for deep diagnostics the embedded Web server and SNMP agent enable full control and operation from remote locations. Extending the transmitter’s operational versatility, Elite 100 GreenPower’s air-cooled modules are equipped either with built-in dust proof ventilation, or can be installed in a 19-inch cabinet interfacing with an external ventilation system.
The Elite 100 GreenPower’s outstanding performance is delivered through Thomson Broadcast’s fully automatic real-time Digital Adaptive Pre-correction (DAP) to correct linear and non-linear distortions.
“The Elite 100 GreenPower completes our energy-efficient evolution of the Elite range, giving us environmentally friendly transmission options for all power ranges,” said Nicolas Dallery, president, Thomson Broadcast. “The GreenPower range is a very important asset for broadcasters working to bring down their overall carbon footprint while benefiting from outstanding performance and features.”
