HVPS Solutions

Solutions Based on Solid Expertise

Thomson High Voltage Power Supply (HVPS) solutions are valued for their flexibility. Due to the modular design of the basic Pulse Step Modulator technology, systems are adaptable to meet practically any customer specification and need. HVPS units, including PSM modulators and transformers, are suited for installation both inside facilities or outside in separate shelters.

The PSM is the heart of Thomson’s standalone HVPS systems. Thomson developed the PSM in the 1980s as a solid-state replacement for tube audio modulators in radio broadcast transmitters.

The PSM is renowned for superior quality, high overall efficiency, sophisticated remote control, and rugged day-to-day reliability. With efficiency of better than 97%, and high power factor, Thomson PSM systems make an important contribution to environmentally benign and cost-efficient operation compared to other modulation techniques.

HVPS units are offering high flexibility for pulsed operation for a wide range of voltage levels (0-100%) up to 200 kV at currents up to 2 kA. Our customers base includes active references for HVPS systems for gyrotron tubes, klystron tubes, and neutral beam injection (NBI).
