DCX Paragon Transmitter

MSDC-IOT UHF Transmitter

Our DCX Paragon transmitter uses the next-generation, high-power Multi-Staged Depressed Collector Inductive Output Tube (MSDC-IOT). Coupled with the latest MSDC-IOT technology, the transmitter lowers the cost of ownership through unprecedented efficiency: up to 2X a conventional IOT technology. This efficiency saves up to 33 percent on current electric bills vs. conventional IOT products. The Thomson DCX Paragon, featuring a high-power amplifier (HPA) cabinet designed specifically for the 5 segment MSDC-IOT, is aimed at UHF DTV modulation and broadcast of both DVB- and ATSC-compliant digital TV signals. It features the ADAPT-IV advanced 8-VSB digital exciter with Emmy® award-winning Digital Adaptive Precorrection (DAP) technology. DAP automatically compensates for RF signal distortion and system variables, streamlining your setup and maintenance operations. The ADAPT-IV exciter is easily software upgradeable for ATSC’s A/153 Mobile DTV standard.

The DCX Paragon includes several new features that increase reliability including Thomson’s patented Soft-Arc Technology (SAT); which eliminates the need for a traditional crowbar circuit. The patented HPA internal pure cooling loop utilizes a synthetic, biodegradable oil to cool and insulate the collector segments of the tube, coupled with standard glycol/water cooling system external to the HPA.

The DCX Paragon transmitter features a sensor on each high-voltage line that locates a high-voltage discharge and displays the line where the discharge occurred on the HPA cabinet interface. This important feature for MSDC-IOT transmitters allows the operator to safely troubleshoot HV power feeds.
